Arch rivals Gino’s may have invented it, but Lou Malnati’s has perfected Chicago’s famed deep-dish. Unlike New York’s thin-crust, this Chicago icon is all about the sauce, which sits on layers of mozzarella and a thick flaky crust. But don’t just take our word for it. Chicago legend Jeff Tweedy – lead singer of the rock band Wilco – is a diehard Lou Malnati’s fan. “It’s the classic, it’s the best,” he told FasterLouder, adding that when it comes to deep-dish simple is often best. “You should get nothing else on it but cheese.”
