The Age’s Good Food Month are delivering the goods yet again. Following on from hosting a sugary dessert festival and a ramen rave, they’re throwing a party devoted solely to ice cream, and you’re totally invited.
Ice Cream Social will take place on Thursday, November 26 at Melbourne’s CBD cafe/warehouse Thousand Pound Bend, featuring Aussie ice cream heroes Gelato Messina and special guests Big Gay Ice Cream all the way from NYC. Since beginning life as an ice-cream truck, the gang behind Big Gay Ice Cream – founders Doug Quint and Bryan Petroff – have taken the world by storm with their tasty soft serve treats that verge on gourmet – think toppings like wasabi peas, cayenne pepper, elderflower syrup and key lime curd, or signature creations like the ‘Salty Pimp’ and the ‘Bea Arthur’. It’s pure ice-cream gold.
Part book launch and part ice-cream social, the party will celebrate the release of the Big Gay Ice Cream recipe book, Saucy Stories & Frozen Treats: Going All the Way with Ice Cream. Expect sundaes, gelato, soft serve and ice-cream galore, with music from one woman party machine CC:Disco.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.
