You’ve Gotta Eat This: Bryndzové Halušky

What is it? Mini dumplings with cheese and bacon, a.k.a. your new go-to late night snack.

Where can you get it? Bryndzové Halušky is one of the national dishes of Slovakia, a country where people understand the true importance of adding bacon to every main meal.

What’s in it? The dumplings are basically boiled lumps of potato dough, which kind of look like little gnocchi. The potato dumplings are then mixed with bryndza (a soft sheeps cheese) and then sprinkled with bits of bacon. Whoever thought to bring these three ingredients together deserves a medal.

Is it good for you? Ha!

How much does it cost? As one of Slovakia’s national dishes you’ll be able to find this one a most home-style restaurants around town, for not much more than your average plate of pasta. Trust us when we say you’ve gotta eat this – it’s damn tasty.
