A US Company Is Currently Looking For A ‘Bacon Critic’

The world is absolutely bonkers for bacon these days, and for good reason. It’s clearly the superior cured meat. Hell, we’d even cross continents to get a sweet slice of it. But do you love bacon so much you’ve thought about turning it into a career? Of course you have.

A brand new site devoted entirely to breakfast foods, Extra Crispy, are on the hunt for a freelance bacon critic to travel across the US and honestly just eat different bacons and then write words about said bacon-eating and oh god, I just handed in my letter of resignation, someone stop me.

As the job description puts it: the Bacon Critic can live “anywhere in the US, and will spend a three-month appointment researching, writing about, obsessing over, and critiquing bacon.”

Extra Crispy’s dream candidate will be opinionated and thorough in their research, possessing some serious writing chops, an unmistakable voice, a sense of adventure and, of course, an insatiable hunger for bacon. The position is a freelance role, and the candidate will eventually have to decide where lovers of cured meats can find the best bacon in the US.

Sound like you? In genuinely devastating news for Australians, the role is only open to residents of the United States. That said, if you’ve won the green card lottery or something, interested applicants can submit a 600 word essay about your “favourite bacon-related memory” on Extra Crispy’s website by June 24.
