Soon You’ll Be Able To Use Netflix, Spotify & Foxtel On Qantas Planes

It is a very good day, indeed. Qantas has announced it’s teaming up with three of the biggest and best players in the world of streaming and content – Netflix, Spotify and Foxtel – to offer passengers free access to a whole new world of inflight entertainment.

On selected domestic flights, you’ll soon be able to pass time in the air with your favourite TV shows, movies, music and even live sport when the airline switches on a new state-of-the-art satellite network.

Behind the scenes, the airline has been quietly testing out NBN technologies that will deliver speeds up to ten times faster than previous inflight Wi-Fi, allowing for live content streaming for the very first time on any commercial airline in Australia.

Spotify, Netflix and Foxtel will first available on selected domestic flights in February, expanding to include the entire Qantas domestic fleet of Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 planes mid-year.

From the air, you can login to your personal Foxtel, Netflix or Spotify accounts on any device. Yes, these are paid services but never fear, because for those who aren’t signed up, all three platforms will offer free access for Qantas flyers (yes!).

Spotify – now sporting over 30 million songs – will give new customers a free 30-day subscription to their premiere service. Netflix will give free access to their entire catalogue of movies and TV shows for 30 days. And Foxtel is gifting three days of free access to their app every single time you fly, without needing to sign up or subscribe. So, not only will you be entertained in the air, but you’ll be able to login from the ground as well to finish watching whatever series you were bingeing on the plane.

The launch of the new inflight Wi-Fi promises to open up further possibilities for Qantas passengers in the future, but for now, we are very happy indeed with Spotify, Netflix and Foxtel.

Make way for endless good tunes, live sports and back-to-back episodes House of Cards. Thank you, Qantas. Thank you.
