Depending on where you are in Australia, it’s looking a little rainy — and dare I say, Covid-y — outside, which means it’s the perfect time to hunker down and cosy up with a little Netflix (or *insert streaming platform of choice here*) and chill. Honestly, even if you’re somewhere perfectly sunny and safe outside, you can still join in here, no judgement.

But it seems like only yesterday that we exhausted every last option on our “must watch” lists, so here’s some fresh new shows and movies to keep you entertained.

Soul (Disney+)

THIS IS THE BEST. It’s all about life, and finding your purpose and what having a ‘purpose’ actually means. It’s beautiful and I cried, a lot.

Bump (Stan)

This is the sweetest show you’ll find right now, and it’s Aussie. A high schooler doesn’t know she’s pregnant until she gives birth, and then has to navigate the changes that brings to her world.

Bridgerton (Netflix)

I know the hype for this show has already happened, but it’s the steamy Pride & Prejudice of your naughtiest dreams. Enjoy.

The Midnight Sky (Netflix)

George Clooney is always a good reason to watch a movie, but this one also happens to be pretty good. Clooney plays a lonely Arctic scientist trying to stop some astronauts coming back home during a global catastrophe.

Small Axe (Binge)

I don’t have Binge, so I’ve only watched every trailer I can find but, guys, it’s Steve McQueen. That’s enough said, but I’ll also let you know this is a five-feature anthology following London’s West Indian community in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Little (Netflix)

It’s far from an original story (you know, the whole waking up as someone else/ a different size/ with special abilities and then ultimately becoming a better person for it), but it’s a very fun.

Suffragette (Netflix)

If you missed this when it came to the flicks in 2015, it’s now new to Netflix. Follow the story of a young mum caught up in the suffragette movement, and prepare to be furious on her behalf.

Four Weddings And A Funeral (Stan)

Yep, this old classic is a brand new series on Stan, directed by Mindy Kaling and starring Nathalie Emmanuel from Game Of Thrones.

The Prom (Netflix)

Look, even if your only reason for watching is to understand why everyone’s saying that James Corden is a terrible bloody actor, it’s a good time.

Sylvie’s Love (Amazon Prime)

I mean, Tessa Thompson, but also a bit of girl power and lot of love. I’m just going to say it, this is the type of movie my sad little heart is craving right now.

Death To 2020 (Netflix)

The creators of Black Mirror took a stab at exploring 2020, starring pretty much everyone. Don’t worry though, it’s funny, not depressing.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Netflix)

For far less horny reasons than Clooney, I will also gladly watch anything Viola Davis is in, particularly when it’s super fun and involves a lot of damn good blues tunes.
