People In Quarantine Are Sharing Tributes To Healthcare Workers, So Not Everything Sucks

More and more countries are entering quarantine in response to COVID-19 coronavirus, but that hasn’t stopped communities from banding together. Now people are paying tribute to medical workers on the frontline of the crisis with the “Solidarity At 8” campaign.

People all over the world are putting on timed, nationwide displays to thank doctors and healthcare workers for their efforts.

Agnes Poirier shared one of the first videos of the tributes. In her video, people in France can be seen and heard on balconies and leaning out of windows to cheer and applaud.

“France will thank medical heroes fighting on the frontline against coronavirus everyday at 8pm,” she said in her post. “Tonight was the first evening.”

Although the tributes started in Europe, it’s not hard to understand why the Solidarity At 8 campaign is quickly spreading to the rest of the world. When we’re all stuck inside without human contact, these collective tributes are a way for us to feel connected to people all over the world.

But even more importantly, the campaign is an opportunity to express our gratitude to the healthcare workers who are putting their own lives at risk to save ours.

As Solidarity At 8 grows, people all over the world are paying tribute every night at 8pm and sharing the videos online.
