Ever since we’ve gone into lockdown I’ve been craving to re-read the Harry Potter series. I have no explanation as to why, but I can’t be the only one? Unfortunately, they’re over at my parents house where I’m not allowed to visit right now. Fortunately, we mere muggles can now get our Harry Potter fix with a free digital escape room.
The online escape room takes you through your first year at Hogwarts. After being sorted into your house, you head back to your common room and get to know your ‘roommates’ — aka. whatever other friends and family you can rope into playing with you from their own homes. Don’t worry, you can also just go it alone if those friends and family refuse to be roped.
But WAIT. You want to go to bed? Too bad young witch/wizard, you’ll have to participate in the team-building activity before you do.
Your instructions are given by the prefect then BOOM, the door slams and you’re locked together in the dark. So basically, it’s Hogwarts hazing. Who knew?
Developed by my new heroes, the Peters Township Public Library in Pennsylvania, the game is not an ‘official’ Harry Potter offshoot, but it’s a close second.
Normally escape rooms kind of freak me out, so I am living for an option that I can do from the comfort of my own bedroom with such a pleasant theme. Not to mention the fact we all absolutely have the time right now.
You can manage your mischief right here.
