Festival Bucket List: Falls Festival, Marion Bay

Festival Bucket List: Falls Festival, Marion Bay

What: Possibly the best way to ring in the New Year – Tassie hosts their annual incarnation of the Falls Festival, and this year is sure going to be a beaut.

Where: The sandy white beaches of Marion Bay in Tasmania are the backdrop for a few days of fun, festivities and a whole lot of great tunes (this year’s got Courtney Barnett, Mac Demarco and Bloc Party to name a few).

When: Everything kicks off on December 29 where you’ll party on into 2016 and stumble home on January 1st. Some festival tickets are still available here, but get in quick.

Fun fact: Little do you know, there’s a whole bunch of locally sourced and crafted cuisines on offer to delight punters during during the festival. One of this year’s caterers is Mic Giullani from the epically delicious Sirocco South in Hobart who will be bringing his Italian inspired cuisine to the masses – think dripping beef sliders, cheesy pasta al forno, tasty potato galettes with cream fraise & smoked salmon and some of Tasmania’s best cannoli. If reading that doesn’t make you hungry, there’s something wrong with you.

Why should you go? It’s no secret that Marion Bay is the prettiest of all of Falls’ locations (did you see that coastline!? What a stunner). With the backdrop of the beach in the distance, a smaller than usual crowd and some great food to keep you going, it’s pretty much the best way to ring in the new year and start 2016 off with a bang.
