Festivals come in all shapes and sizes – from mega four-day festivals to tiny events held in equally as tiny spaces – but above all else, an epic festival is something you’ll be bragging about for years to come. Here’s another to add to your growing Festival Bucket List.
What: Not your average Chinese festival, Concrete & Grass promises a festival chock full of great bands, weird art, strange creatures and fun distractions. This year’s event sees former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus, British garage rockers The Cribs, Tokyo indie-pop outfit Sekai No Owari and Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg hitting the stage, along with Aussie legends PVT, Rag ‘N Bone and Milwaukee Banks.
Where: At the Shanghai Community Sports Club, in Shanghai, China.
When: Over two spectacular days, September 16 and 17.
Fun fact: Concrete & Grass promises four stages of amazing music: the pogo-happy Stage Left, the dark and alluring Yurt, the weird Wooozy Dimension, and the centrepiece, the Echo Stage.
Why should you go? Held at the incredible Shanghai Community Sports Club, an intimate space filled with lush fields of grass, Concrete & Grass have something for everyone: the music selection stretches from pop to punk, from shoegaze to hip hop; there’s food that’ll make your eyes water; games; cocktails; ice cream and a few other surprises along the way.
