Good News, The Banksy Exhibition In Sydney Has Been Extended ‘Til December

The Art Of Banksy Exhibition In Sydney Has Been Extended To December

Earlier this year, The Art of Banksy arrived in Sydney and everybody proceeded to lose their minds over how good it was. So much so that the exhibition has been extended until December 1.

The exhibition features the world’s largest touring collection of the street artist’s work, with more than 80 original and privately-owned Banksy artworks, including the famous “Girl With Balloon”.

Curated by Steve Lazarides, the enigmatic artist’s former manager and photographer, the Art of Banksy pulls from privately-owned collections around the world to showcase ultra-famous artworks like “Flower Thrower”, “Rude Copper” and “Flag Wall”.

But even his less-famous pieces are must-see works for art enthusiasts, and The Art of Banksy is a unique opportunity to see such a sheer number of epic artworks in one place. It’s no surprise, then, that the exhibition has already earned international acclaim and rave reviews in Melbourne, Tel Aviv, Auckland, Toronto and Miami.

The artworks on display range from 1997 to 2008 — the period that resulted in Banksy’s most recognisable works — and the vast collection gives an insight into Banksy’s style and process.

The extended Sydney season is testament to Banksy’s enduring cultural impact. The artist has been in the headlines lately, since he destroyed one of his paintings seconds after it was sold at auction, and his work, “Devolved Parliament”, a satirical oil painting depicting the British House of Commons filled with chimpanzees, sold for £9,879,500 (AUD$18,584,969).
