Two Aussie Bars Have Been Named Among The World’s Best

Black Pearl Melbourne

Today, The World’s 50 Bars announced  the winners of its much-anticipated annual awards, definitively ranking the best bars across the globe. The list features some of the biggest names in hospitality in some of the most populated cities in the world, and two of them might just be your local.

Two Aussie bars have nabbed a spot in the illustrious list of venues, after 500 industry experts from 55 countries across the globe voted for their favourites.

Taking out 22nd spot and the title of best bar in Australasia went to Melbourne’s Black Pearl. The bar has been a regular fixture in the top half of the list since the awards began nine years ago and has been a veritable breeding ground for some of the country’s best bartenders since opening its doors fifteen years ago.

Apart from its extensive cocktail list and broad selection of local and international beers, the bar stays true to the land it calls home, slinging humble homemade sausage rolls to hungry patrons. Onya, Black Pearl.

Sydney bar The Baxter Inn just crept into the World’s 50 Best, taking out the 45th spot. The renowned drinking establishment is the brainchild of Anton Forte and Jason Scott and holds a whiskey library of over 630 rare and unusual bottles. The venue serves up Old Fashioneds on tap – I repeat, cocktails on tap – to thirsty Sydneysiders.
