Is this the most intricately detailed travel video of all time?
10328×7760 – A 10K Timelapse Demo from SCIENTIFANTASTIC on Vimeo.
Scientifantastic captured this incredible time lapse video of Rio de Janeiro using new “10K” technology. 10K technology is all about pixels. Pixels are the dots that make up images on a screen – the the more pixels there are, the sharper and more realistic images look. The horizontal resolution on this video is 10,000 pixels. That’s ten times as high a resolution as 1080p, which is what we normally mean today when we describe a screen as “Full HD”.
The video, titled 10328×7760 – A 10K Timelapse Demo was filmed for $50,000 using an PhaseOne IQ180 camera. Each shot is comprised of hundreds of individual still images, each weighing in at a massive 80 megapixels, meaning this must be one of the most detailed travel videos ever made.
The ultra-high resolution video is sped up using time lapse and zoomed in at intervals so you can see the incredibly sharp detail contained within each shot (which is necessary as the detail is finer than hosting site Vimeo and most hi-res TVs can currently support).
It’s amazing to consider that the below images are all from the same, continuous shot.
Finally, a holiday video we’d be happy to have to have displayed for us in our uncle’s living room – if he could find a TV big enough to play it on, of course.
