5 Op Shop Outfits To Make You Look Divine And Help The Homeless At The Same Time

There is a particular pleasure that comes along with finding the perfect outfit after hunting through an op shop. It’s like you’ve earned it in a whole different way than when you pop into a boutique store. Not to mention it’s better for the environment.

If your op shopping enthusiasm has been put on hold since coronavirus came into our lives, however, you’ll be pleased to know Wayside Chapel Op Shop has started up an online store. What’s more, sales will help Wayside to continue their work providing care and assistance for people in need around Sydney.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity now for fashion lovers all over Australia to be able to shop one of the most iconic and eclectic op shops in the country, knowing that every dollar they spend goes back to the charity’s important programs and services to support the community,” said Wayside Chapel Ambassador, Christian Wilkins.

Wayside Chapel has actual vintage gems and great bargains on high-end labels, too. You’ll find Kookai, Bianca Spender, Trenery, Sass & Bide and more amongst their racks.

If you were asking my advice (and too bad if you weren’t), I’ve thrown together a few outfits based on my fave pieces they have for sale right now.

For The Office

Can we talk about how cute this $35 M&S Jumpsuit is? Pair it with a classic pair of earrings, like these large vintage costume clip ons for $20. It absolutely also needs a mid-length statement necklace and a cute clutch with strappy sandals (heels optional). Personally, I’d stick with gold accessories.

For Your Day Off

I’ll admit I can’t entirely picture what these $10 Humour denim shorts look like on, but I dig them. Add a casual tee like this Desert Designs one for $35, and a nice jacket like this $30 Top Man number. Cute.

For Effortlessly Cool

I can’t resist a statement pant like these Vintage Neuw Corduroy Jeans for $30. You can build up from there without taking too much away from the bold pants. Start with this $30 Auguste tee and either tuck it in or tie it up. If it’s chilly, chuck on this $40 Only Faux Fur Suede Jacket. Keep it super casual with white sneakers, or jazz it up with a pair of heels.

For A First Date

Unless you’re the type to hit up a hatted restaurant for your first date, you want to find that perfect balance between casual and well-dressed. Start with a blue pair of jeans — could be a dark blue to a lighter, washed look. Then add this awesome $20 Staple Superior Shirt and throw this $40 Billabong Barlow Jacket on top.

For Sunday Funday

I told you I love a jumpsuit. I dare you not to turn heads in this $30 Zara number. Dress it up a bit and give it a unique twist with the Fendi Turtleneck for $180 (or just a regular black turtleneck if you like to play it safe. Or you can keep it beachside-casual with the $45 G Star Denim Jacket.

If you’ve done a bit of a Spring clean and have quality clothing to donate, you can do so at their Kings Cross and Bondi locations — just check the website for a list of suitable items first.
