NSW Is Handing Out A New Round Of $100 Vouchers, This Time For A CBD Staycay

By now most New South Welshmen have heard of, if not started using the Dine & Discover vouchers the NSW government announced and started rolling out earlier this year. Well, the next round of vouchers is taking a leaf out of the book of VIC and QLD by handing out $100 vouchers to spend on a staycay in the Sydney CBD.

While there aren’t a lot of exact details out yet, the plan was announced over the weekend by Premier Gladys Berejiklian, as part of a wider support package for tourism and events.

“With international, interstate and business travellers virtually non-existent for the past year, the CBD, and in particular the accommodation industry, has done it tough,” said Berejiklian. “This new program will be in addition to our other stimulus measures such as the Dine & Discover scheme, and will provide a boost to accommodation providers in what is a traditionally very quiet period”.

What we do know is that a huge 200,000 vouchers will be available, each worth $100. They’ll be given away on a first-come, first-served basis — probably around June — to be used at yet-to-be-announced accomodation around inner Sydney.

Other measures to help the tourism, live music and events sectors were announced at the same time, so watch this space (by which I mean the New South Wales Government’s website).

It’s not hard to find inspiration for a trip to the Sydney CBD. Vivid is back in 2021, so a perfect time to plan a trip or staycay for. There’s a whole new nightlife and entertainment precinct, and we have some of the cosiest bars for a winter visit, considering when the vouchers will most likely come out.
