Sydney Is Getting A Taste Of Tokyo’s Nightlife In A Series Of Immersive Pop-Up Bars

Get A Taste Of Tokyo's Nighlife At The Koyomi Pop-Up In Sydney

Tokyo’s Golden Gai Bar District is iconic — six narrow laneways, just wide enough to walk through, that are crammed with more than 200 tiny bars. It’s a must-see for foodies visiting the city, but now it’s coming to Sydney in a series of immersive pop-up bars.

Three themed bars will be springing up in Paddington later this month to make you feel like you’re enjoying a drink in the intimate small bars of Tokyo. Each pop-up will accommodate ten guests at a time and serve a different drink specialty.

Those drinks will be three different flavours of the Koyomi Highball, a brand-new kind of booze hitting Australian shelves. Koyomi Highball is made from shochu, a massively popular Japanese spirit, and soda. Oh, and it’s served in a can.

All alcohol tastes better when it’s served in a can. I don’t make the rules.

You’ll be among the first to taste the Koyomi Highball as you move through each of the bars. There’s no word yet on which flavours will be served, but a quick look at the Koyomi website makes us think it’ll be yuzu and lime, mandarin and grapefruit, and blood orange and bitters.

Whatever they are, each drink will be paired with some kind of food to complete the transformation into an authentic Tokyo small bar.

The Tokyo-inspired pop-up bars will be open for three days from Wednesday, September 18 until Friday, September 20 and you can get tickets here.
