Remember the bougie Coles that had mini mochi ice creams, a bread slicer and a pasta station? Well buckle up, because BP servos have teamed up with *checks notes* David Jones to open a string of fancy convenience stores in Sydney and Melbourne.
The new stores will serve all the usual servo takeaway options like sandwiches and pastries, but with a David Jones flair. Apparently that means whole-ass rotisserie chickens, green curry chicken, lasagne, and mac and cheese.
All up there are more than 300 products from the David Jones Food line available in these stores. They’re obviously going for a broader market than just the hungry, hungry piggies who want to stock up on chocolate before a road trip.

In fact, there are some high-quality chocolates available in the gift section, along with flower bouquets. So no more smashing three Boost bars on your next road trip. (Kidding, absolutely keep doing this.)
As well as ready-to-eat and eat-at-home meals, there’ll also be top shelf groceries like fancy olive oil, meats and peanut butter.
Up until this point, I associated David Jones with having lunch with my rich grandmother, who was the kind of woman who owned multiple houses in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and included literal diamonds in her will. But servos are cool, too.
And honestly, at this point of 2020, it shouldn’t be surprising that something like this is happening. But one good thing to come out of this unnecessary pivot is that select stores are offering delivery on a bunch of essentials.
Look for ‘Everyday by BP’ on Uber Eats to order a breakfast essentials pack, bread and milk bundles, party snack packs, coffee, chocolate-coated popcorn and pulled pork empanadas.
Some locals might be familiar with the concept, with the first few OTT servos opening as a trial late last year. There are now more than 30 stores set to open across NSW and Victoria by the end of the year.
