If your friends are anything like mine, you’ve had at least four heated conversations about the best kind of pie this year alone. I wish I was joking. But now me, you, all our friends and literally every local bakery in Australia can back down, because experts have officially found the best pie in the country.
There’s a lot that goes into a decision like this: What’s inside the pie? What’s on top of the pie? How well does the crust hold up? How many can you smash on a drunken night out?

They also handed down judgement on Australia’s best mince and chunky beef pie, vegetarian pie, seafood pie and gourmet pie, among others. Ladies and gentlemen, drumroll please…

Australia’s Best Pie:
Caramelised Pork and Pepper at Country Cob Bakery
These guys defended their 2018 crown with a Caramelised Pork & Pepper pie which sounds *chef kissy fingers*.
When they won the competition last year, the owner told SBS Food that he dreams about making pies for the competition. Seems like it’s working out for him, because Country Cob Bakery also won gold medals for their plain Mince Beef, Curry Beef, Mushroom and Leek and gourmet pies. They also won three gold medals in the Seafood Pie comp, which absolutely should not be a thing that exists, but here we are.

Oven Crisp Bakery

These pies will never need to go to a dentist again because they already got perfect fillings!”
