The Australian Ballet Has Launched Free Online Classes So Grab Your Tutu

Some of us are using all this extra time at home to become culinary legends in our own kitchens, others are trying their hand at every type of craft available to us. And now we will see a new breed of isolation talents: the bedroom ballerina.

This is all thanks to none other than The Australian Ballet launching online classes for FREE — and yes, don’t worry, they include classes for absolute beginners so we can all fumble through together.

Launched on April 9, the program runs for nine weeks, with a new class dropping every week. You’ll be shown the ropes (or barre) by an ex-company dancer, Justine Miles.

She’ll run you through everything, starting with the fundamentals of barre and slowly progressing into exercises off-barre (which is just the ballet bar, by the way). The classes promise to help you improve your posture, coordination and strength. Frankly, you had me at posture. “Ballet is a wonderful way of staying fit,” said Artistic Director David McAllister in a statement. “It’s never too late to start your ballet journey, and this is a perfect opportunity for anyone who has considered it but never taken the leap (or jeté).”

Before you know it, you’ll be going from two left feet to this:

Well, no probably not, but a girl can dream. If you’re needing a little inspiration, I highly recommend re-watching Center Stage. If you don’t love it, then you don’t know what’s good for you.

Grab your tutus and point your toes, let’s do this! Check out the classes on their website.
