A Perth Street Is Being Turned Into A 315m Long Slip’N’Slide

It’s an Australian summer tradition. The humble slip’n’slide, where you lay down a long strip of plastic, soak it with running water and detergent and nonchalantly throw your body down it in the name of “fun”.

Now, in an Australia first, a Perth street will turn into a giant slip’n’slide this summer when a temporary 315m long slide (that’s two AFL ovals end to end) will be installed on the west end of St Georges Terrace on Sunday December 14 for just one day.  Come Monday, the street will be handed back to the traffic. The company pulling it together is called Slidestreet and they’ve already had successful runs in the USA and UK.

There’ll be food trucks, DJs, an inflatable pop up bar and “slide selfie” photos.

Organisers are also in talks to tour the Streetslide to other parts of the country.
