An Interactive Mad Hatter Cocktail Party Is Coming To Sydney In The Old World Bar

Bars are back, and it’s seems like we’re celebrating by making them bigger and better than ever. Case in point: the old World Bar in Kings Cross has been transformed into an immersive Alice in Wonderland-themed event called Wonderland Bar.

It’s similar to the Harry Potter-inspired bar that popped up for an extended stay last year. Just like that one, you’ll play games and solve riddles to unlock all the ingredients to create your own enchanted cocktails.

But at Wonderland, you’ll also play croquet with a flamingo (not a real one!), paint the roses red and devour ‘Eat Me’ cake alongside the Mad Hatter and March Hare.

Beyond Cinema, the indisputable kings and queens of these immersive events, have done a great job turning the bar into the magical world of Wonderland. There’s a light-up Cheshire Cat on the wall, teapots hanging from the ceiling and lots of bubbling, smoking cocktails that (probably) won’t shrink you down to half-size, or whatever other (horrifying) things happen in that story.

And because this is a tea party, you’ll absolutely be making your cocktails in tea pots. Will this make them taste better than regular drinks? I’m not an expert, but yes.

There are two bespoke cocktails to make in each session, and if the group’s past events are anything to go by, they’ll both be truly delicious and leave you feeling like a real mixologist.

You can book into the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party here, but the main floors of the bar have also been redone to fit the theme and are accepting bookings and walk-ins.

Tickets for the immersive experience start at $43.51, with 90-minute sessions running until at least January 11, 2021.
