The New York Times unveiled their amazing interactive 52 Places To Go In 2015 list last week, and only one Australian city took out a spot on the esteemed lineup.
Adelaide placed at number 24, with the blurb highlighting not only the beautiful beaches and world-class wine regions but also the energetic arts scene helped along by festivals like WOMADelaide, Adelaide Festival and Adelaide Film Festival. They also touch upon the renewed West End, with its cool bars and cafes (including Public, run by 2012 Australian Young Chef Of The Year Stewart Wesson), and the inspired menus and local produce of the booming dining scene including organic and sustainable markets.
Rounding out the boast-worthy highlights of South Australia’s capital are galleries like the contemporary Samstag Museum and the design-centric Jam Factory, and new art hotels like The Watson, opening in February.
The top ten list, in order, are Milan, Cuba, Philadelphia, Yellowstone National Park, Elqui Valley in Chile, Singapore, Durban in South Africa, Bolivia, Faroe Islands and Macedonia.
Other destinations on the celebrated list included Patagonia, Zimbabwe, Peru’s north coast, Greenland and Papa New Guinea.
