You Can Now Score Great Deals To Help Kangaroo Island Bounce Back From Bushfires

After months spent battling bushfires, South Australia’s Kangaroo Island and Adelaide Hills need visitors back ASAP.

To support the recovery, the South Australian Tourism Commission has launched the #BookThemOut campaign.

Tourism is vital to help these regional economies rebuild following the devastation of the Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island fires.

Luckily for holidaymakers, they’re also incredible places to visit. 50-percent of Kangaroo island has remained untouched by fires (and the rest could use an injection of your dollars), so there’s no reason to delay.

As highlighted in our round-up of destinations you can help bounce back from bushfires, Kangaroo Island has a lot to recommend it. Along with the white sand and crystal-clear water of its beaches, the island is dotted with esteemed cellar doors and farm-to-table restaurants.

It’s also home to many desirable hotels. As part of the #BookThemOut campaign, there’s some great deals to be found on accommodation. These range from quaint cottages and B&Bs to luxury ecolodges. (Ditto for the Adelaide Hills, where you’ll wine, dine and sleep like royalty.)

As part of the push, ferry tickets to Kangaroo Island have been slashed to $25 return.

There are other promising signs for the region’s recovery. In 2020, Adelaide Fringe Festival is taking its Garden Of Unearthly Delights to the island.

The special event on Monday, February 17 sees performers like Tom Gleeson, Frank Woodley and Harley Breen donating their time. The event is free for all residents and volunteer firefighters.
