It’s National Doughnut Day on June 7, and some of Australia’s best doughnut shops are whipping up special creations and slinging tasty deals our way to celebrate this blessed day.
If you love doughnuts more than anything (same) you’ll want to know which places in Melbourne and Sydney have the best deals this Friday. From doughnut-inspired cocktails to freebies, here are the places to go this National Doughnut Day.

Where: Shop 3, 23 Barangaroo Avenue, Sydney & 12 Sutherland Street, Melbourne
Shortstop doughnuts are legendary, and National Doughnut Day is a great opportunity to get your hands on more of them than ever. They’ll be baking a crazy amount of delicious dough boys, plus they’re giving away a free cinnamon cake doughnut with every purchase until stocks last.
#2 Donut Papi
Where: 34A Redfern Street, Sydney
Donut Papi have 100 free donuts to give away to lucky customers who get in early. Unlike most of the other freebies on the day, you’ll get to choose your flavour from strawberry milkshake, chocolate sprinkles, cinnamon sugar and the OG glaze. The freebies start going out the door at 11am until sold out.
You have to show their National Doughnut Day post from Instagram or Facebook to claim your freebie, so make sure you’re following them for some mouth-watering food inspo.
#3 Goldeluck’s Doughnut Buffet
Where: 175 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood, Victoria & 29A/102-114 Gladesville Boulevarde, Patterson Lakes, Victoria
This may be one of the most ambitious doughnut feats ever attempted — Melbourne’s Goldeluck’s are hosting a series of bottomless doughnut buffets. Oh. My. God.
A $22 ticket will get you unlimited doughnuts, dossants (a doughnut x croissant hybrid), milkshakes and hot drinks for one hour. You need to book in advance, and tickets are selling so quick that they’ve added sessions on June 8 as well.
They’re also giving away free doughnuts with purchases across the rest of their stores.
#4 Krispy Kreme
Where: Participating stores around Australia
They may not be as high-class as some of the other places on this list, but Krispy Kreme are giving away 100,000 free doughnuts and you cannot argue with one hundred thousand free doughnuts.
Check out their website for a list of participating stores, and head to your nearest one to get a free Original Glazed bad boy.
#5 Nútie Donuts
Where: 13 Beattie Street, Sydney
Vegan baked goods specialists Nútie Donuts are prepping something extra special for National Doughnut Day. We don’t know what they’ve got in store for us just yet, but they’re teasing limited edition flavours and office deliveries. Famous for the 1kg donut challenge and coffee-filled doughnuts, Kenilworth Country Bakery are doing 2 for 1 on all of their traditional doughnuts (sorry, you can’t score a free 1kg beast, but you can still preorder the challenge if that’s how you want to celebrate the day).
#7 Bistronought Gelato
Where: Zero Gradi, 93-97 Lygon St, Brunswick East, Melbourne & Bistro Morgan, 190 High St, Windsor, Melbourne
Zero Gradi and Bistro Morgan have teamed up to create the Bistronought Gelato. Think fluffy, fried chunks of doughnut swirled through caramel and cinnamon gelato, topped with Bistro Morgan’s mini caramel doughnuts and finished with Nutella. Um, yes please.
They’re serving up the creation on National Doughnut Day and right through the June long weekend..

Where: 141-145 Commercial Rd, South Yarra, Melbourne
The cocktail gurus at The Emerson have tapped into their sweet tooth to create the “Dough-nut Kill my Vibe” cocktail. This cacao infused, Gin based cocktail is ladened in Licor 43 (a citrus and vanilla liqueur) as well as Bailey’s and Butterscotch liqueur. It’s served in a sugar-rimmed glass and decorated with Persian Fairy Floss and — most importantly — a plump doughnut on top. It’s available for one day only, but The Emerson is open until late so you’ve got plenty of time to get your hands on it after work.
Once you’ve recovered from your sugar high, you’ll have an entire long weekend to enjoy! Check out the best things to do in Sydney and Melbourne for the June long weekend.
