Your New Style Icons Are These Taiwanese Grandparents Modelling Forgotten Clothes

You can stop searching, we’ve found the world’s hippest grandparents, and they own a laundromat in Taiwan.
Husband and wife Chang Sho-Er and Wan Ji have owned a laundromat in Taiwan’s coastal city of Taichung for 70 years. Like with so many businesses, when COVID hit, they found themselves suddenly without a lot of business, and subsequently a whole lot of down time to kill.
Enter their 31-year-old grandson, Reef Chang, and his evidently brilliant idea to get them both onto Instagram, asap. The result was not only a friendly reminder to pick up your clothes from the laundromat, but the birth of absolute style icons.
The couple started styling themselves in different outfits that had all been abandoned over the years by customers at their laundromat.
“These old clothes have been abandoned by customers at the laundry for years,” states one of their Instagram posts, “Owners of the laundry store, Wanji and Sho-Er who are over 80 years old. Grandson just can’t bear to see them overwhelmed with bore everyday. So, ask them to reinterpret fashion, hoping to let everyone know that age is not a barrier to have fun in fashion and even old clothings can transformed into trendy outfits!”
“A friendly reminder,” it continues, “don’t forget to pick up your laundry”.
Seriously though, are these two not the coolest pair you’ve ever laid eyes on? Is there any style they can’t pull off? A quick perusal tells me that no, absolutely not. They are fashion gods.
Side note: low-key considering investing in a laundromat so people will abandon fab clothes at it that I can then keep.
