What: Sloss Music & Arts Festival, a newish festival in an unconventional location in the US.
Where: The other Birmingham – Alabama’s largest city is the home to this killer festival.

When: Next year’s incarnation will take place on July 16 and 17.
Fun fact: The festival is run and hosted at The Sloss Furnaces, a Natural Historic Landmark in Birmingham that features a web of pipes and tall smokestacks and dates back almost 90 years.
Why should you go? The lineups are excellent – this year saw the likes of Modest Mouse, Primus, Band of Horses, The New Pornographers and Cage the Elephant grace the stage – but for no other reason than to say you’ve been to a festival in a furnace. How cool hot is that!?
