Move over Disneyland, Dog Mountain is the new Happiest Place on Earth and it’s called Dog Mountain. It’s a hotel that allows travellers to stay with their pets, meaning it’s is full of pups, all the time.
Dog Mountain is located on 150 acres of private mountaintop in St Johnsbury, Vermont. The playful property was built by late children’s writer and artist Stephen Huneck.
There hotel has a no-leash policy at the residence and pets are allowed to wander the grounds as they please. Puppy dates are also encouraged.
As well as dogs literally everywhere, St Johnsbury is home to some truly beautiful scenery. According to the website, “the unspoiled haven is covered with hiking trails and dog ponds. Wildflowers abound in the summer and snow-shoeing is a favourite activity in the winter”.
The cherry on the top of Dog Mountain is Dog Chapel, which has been carefully constructed with stained glass windows (with pictures of dogs, of course) and hand-carved church pews (adorned with dog sculptures, of course). The walls inside are plastered with heartfelt handwritten notes to canine friends who have crossed the rainbow bridge.
You can also wander through a stunning art gallery. Check out this drone video for a birds-eye view of the property.
