Wish You Were Here: Ufogel, Austria

It might be time to admit we’re a little obsessed with small, all-encompassing wood cabins. There was this A-frame in the heart of Yosemite National Park, this cabin that’s disguised as a stacked pile of wood, and now a tiny house in the Austrian Alps that looks like an alien space-craft came to earth and set up shop in the mountaintops.
Fittingly named the Ufogel (a mixture of UFO and vogel, the German word for bird), this compact building fits up to five people and sits among the mountains in East Tyrel, Austria.
The unusual building is completely functioning, without harshly impacting on the environment. The eco-cabin is set up with a kitchen, shower, toilet, air-conditioning, a satellite TV, bedding and a ripper view of the surrounding mountainous region.
The Ufogel is made entirely of larch wood, and while it looks somewhat like an alien home, it’s surprisingly comfy and welcoming for humans like us. Large panoramic windows bring nature right to you, and it’s way too easy to imagine yourself sitting by that huge window, sipping some wine and enjoying the glorious surrounds.
Prices start at €120 ($191 UD) for two people, per night.
