Sydney’s Newest Eatery Is Making Our Fried Chicken Dreams Come True

Wish Bone

If there’s one cuisine we’re very, very much on board with, it’s fried chicken. So when Wish Bone, Sydney’s brand new fried chicken eatery opened in Newtown yesterday, we just about lost our minds.

Wish Bone is the brainchild of Gregory Llewellyn and Naomi Hart, the same crew behind Hartsyard – famed for its refined American and Southern US eats. The philosophy? Quality quick-service food and drinks with next-level service. And (of course) full-throttle fried chicken.

Punters can expect smoky chicken by the piece, or in the form of a ‘Birdy Sando’ complete with iceberg lettuce, American cheese, mayo, hot sauce and pickles on a steamed butter bun.

There are plenty of killer sides too, like poutine, mac and cheese, creamed corn, biscuits and gravy, coleslaw and heaps more. But to be truthful, they had us at smoky chicken pieces.

Need some beverages to wash down all of that sweet, sweet deep fried goodness? The Wish Bone has you covered, with a selection of delicious drinks. Sample the selection of alcoholic (or virgin) slushies and thickshakes, tasty cocktails, local and imported beers, wine and more.
