*Cccrrrsh* Excuse me passengers I have some very important suitcase news I’d really like to share with you today.
Someone went and invented a ride-on-electric-scooter-suitcase hybrid and with that, we’ve officially reached peak 2016.[media_embed]https://youtu.be/FG-ZSMfqoUU[/media_embed]
Modobag is a rideable suitcase. Kind of like those kiddy ones, but with power – 150 watts of it in fact. The role of said rideable suitcase is to help commuters make air travel faster, efficient and objectively more fun. It features a dual wheel breaking system, thumb action throttle, speed control for indoor and outdoor riding, and a built-in USB charger. It’s safe to say the Modobag is the whole enchilada.
The bag’s biggest claim to fame is the fact that it can reach speeds of up to 12 kilometres per hour on flat surfaces, which is about three times faster than the average walking speed. And for the average traveller who must drag themselves through the security, crowds and long distances between airport gates, this makes air travel look like a breeze – like literally, you can actually look like a breeze, whizzing past slow walkers and airport shoppers to get to your departure gate.
You’re probably thinking, “Wow, this sure sounds handy!” And it totally is! But you should know, these guys are neither cheap nor lightweight. While it does fit the standards for carry-on luggage, the Modobag weighs eight kilograms on its own. Additionally, one bag will set you back $995USD or $1325AUD. I guess you’ve just got to weigh up how badly you want to be able to do doughnuts in the departure lounge.
Modobag are currently running an Indiegogo campaign to raise the money to put these bad boys into production. As of publication, they’ve already reached 386% of their $50,000USD goal, sitting at around $193,050USD with more than 20 days left on their campaign.
