VB Just Released Their Own Fragrance So You Can Smell Like That Pub You’re Missing

I’m not entirely sure how to explain that this is a thing, so I’m just going to come out and say that Victoria Bitter have just announced they’ll be releasing their own fragrance.

I know what you’re thinking: will it smell like that oddly comforting yet gross mix of stale beer and mustiness that signifies a classic Aussie pub? Or will it be more along the lines of Aussie bogan?

Apparently neither, and apparently it’s a bit more ‘upmarket’ than any of us would have expected — sort of.

Aptly names ‘Thirst’ and appropriately coming in a VB bottle shape, the idea for the fragrance is to help people cover up the scent of a hard day’s work. VB themselves describe it as “a scent by VB to help hard-working Australians get from the worksite to knock-off drinks, even if that’s the bar at home for now”.

Using premium perfume oil and actual VB hops, it combines bitter citrus and “icy aromas” (whatever that means) to create a “big, bold scent”. I honestly cannot work out what that means for your nostrils at all, but I’m intrigued.

“We love hard work, but let’s be honest, no one wants to be the person who brings the smell of the worksite to the pub, which is why we created Thirst.” said Victoria Bitter’s Marketing Director, Hayden Turner.

VB’s marketing team have been doing the most with their merch over the last year or so. There was the VB Hawaiian shirt, the VB ugly Christmas sweater, the VB tea (what?), VB puzzles, and even VB snowboards. I don’t fully understand it, and I’m more of a Toohey’s woman, and yet a large part of me wants it all.

The fragrance is obviously coming out just in time for Father’s Day in a year when present options are somewhat limited. I would just warn you to remember lockdown, and consider what scents you can and can’t handle being cooped inside with, should that happen again, before you purchase.
