Qantas Reveals The Top 10 Inflight Movies We All Watched in 2019

top ten inflight movies

If you’re ever behind on the office movie chat, maybe it’s time to take a holiday. From cross-country dashes to long hauls, flights are a great excuse for any-time-of-day movie marathons. Now Qantas has revealed the top 10 inflight movies we were all binging on in 2019.

In the top spot, coming as no surprise to anyone who’s stickybeaked around their seat neighbours this year, is A Star Is Born. Bradley Cooper’s update of the classic story is an archetypal plane watch, with a commanding central performance from Lady Gaga. It’s also very likely to make you blub uncontrollably in your seat – especially on a plane.

The top five also includes two MCU spectacles, Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel, and Quentin Tarantino’s period masterpiece Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. (Warning for the uninitiated: it gets bloody.)

The notable No. 5 is Mary Queen Of Scots, a movie that didn’t exactly blow up the international box office or win the Oscars it wanted. However, with two terrific lead performances from Saoirse Ronan and ‘our’ Margot Robbie, it’s finding a second life on inflight screens.

The 6-10 bracket covers all tastes. You’ve got Keanu’s balletic shoot ‘em up, John Wick 3: Chapter Three – Parabellum, but also Disney’s big-budget reboots of Aladdin and The Lion King. Then there’s the flashy biopic double-bill of Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody – which, it should be noted, does not endorse singing along in confined spaces.

Check out Qantas’ top 10 inflight movies of the year below – how many did you plane-watch?

1. A Star Is Born
2. Avengers: Endgame
3. Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood
4. Captain Marvel
5. Mary Queen of Scots
6. John Wick: Chapter Three – Parabellum
7. Aladdin
8. Rocketman
9. The Lion King
