Travel + Leisure have just released the results of their 2016 survey, which polls their well-travelled audience about their favourite holiday experiences across the globe.
Having recently revealed the best cities in Europe and the world, they’ve now named the world’s best island for 2016: the Philippines’ picturesque Palawan.
Palawan took out the same gong back in 2013 and it’s no surprise that it has reclaimed the throne. “Palawan is every beach lover’s dream destination,” said one T+L voter, who also regarded it as “a wonderful and magical place.” With tall green mountains meeting impossibly clear water, reefs prime for snorkelling and scuba diving, and the wonder of nature that is a five-mile-long underground river, Palawan is a pretty remarkable place.
