Hiking volcanoes, swimming under waterfalls, snorkelling with marine life, staying in luxury hotels and straight up chilling on white-sand beaches beside crystal water – sound good to you? Then you’re not alone.
TripAdvisor are compiling their 2016 travel awards, as chosen by millions of customers. Having recently revealed the best destination in the world, they’ve now named the best island in the world for 2016: Maui.

TripAdvisor ranks its award winners based on an algorithm that takes into account the quality of reviews for hotels, restaurants and attractions in a destination over a 12-month period.
Unfortunately, no Australian islands made the list, but we still hold them dear in our hearts. Yes, we’re looking at you Lord Howe, Fraser and Kangaroo Island, and – of course – Tasmania.
