We receive endless streams of inspiration from social media every single day. But what place can look so enticing that we’d actually book a trip right then and there? Many, you cry!
Travel searches on Pinterest rose 37 per cent last year, so the company teamed up with Airbnb to see which destinations were at the top of our wish list. Search data was collated and Airbnb booking habits were analysed to figure out the top 10 trending destinations. And said places are a photogenic bunch, that’s for sure.
If you’re a budget traveller who scrolls through Pinterest, or any form of social media for that matter, you’ve more than likely drooled over one of these places:
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Sharm El Sheikh is a desert oasis on the edge of the blue sea, so you can imagine the incredible photos.
Tenerife, Canary Islands
Tenerife is part of Spain’s Canary Islands, off the coast of West Africa. It’s home to Mount Teide, a large volcano in the middle of the island, and the colourful Carnaval de Santa Cruz.
Courchevel, France

Courchevel is part of a string of ski resorts in the French Alps, filled with charming lodges and delicious French cuisine.
Scottish Highlands
Not usually top of mind for a relaxing getaway, the Scottish Highlands have no doubt risen in popularity due to the arresting landscape, old castles, endless green valleys and charming Scottish hospitality.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Full of unique houses and surrounded by mountaintops, Reykjavik is a major city that feels like a small town.
Kyoto, Japan
With a host of beautiful temples and shrines, Kyoto takes a damn fine picture. We’re sure you’ve seen this one of the Fushimi Inari shrine quite a lot.
Bora Bora, Polynesia

Bora Bora needs no explanation. With water that clear with amazing huts perched atop and beautiful surrounding hills, we think Bora Bora will be trending for quite some time to come. Besides, the Kardashians went there.
New York City, US
There’s so much to see and do in the city that never sleeps, a ‘gram of you in front of the iconic Empire State Building view is enough to drop everything and travel for.
Santorini, Greece

A place that looks almost as good in photos as it does in real life, Santorini is classic Greece and a bucket list staple.
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona probably made this list due to Gaudi’s mind-bending architecture scattered across the city. A must see to believe type of experience.
