Ubud is brimming with excellent food year round, but if there’s one time of the year for a food lover to make the trip to the cultural capital of Bali, it’s for their exceedingly delightful food festival.
The Ubud Food Festival is returning for its third year and is once again packed with some serious heavyweights from the culinary industry. Chefs, writers and experts from around Asia flock to Ubud each year to educate and inspire festival goers about the origins and impact of their food. With lots and lots of delicious examples, of course.
[related_articles]10740[/related_articles]Kicking off on May 12, the lineup includes the likes of Bo Songvisava and Dylan Jones from Bo.lan in Bangkok after recently being voted the 19th best restaurant in Asia. The team behind Indonesian restaurant Locavore will also be making an appearance after coming in as the 22nd best restaurant in Asia. In fact, they were the only Indonesian restaurant to get a mention in the ranking so there’ll no doubt be a lot of pride in showcasing their local cuisine.
Other high profile guests include Chele Gonzales, who heads up the renowned Gallery VASK in the Phillipines, chef and author Joannès Rivière from Cambodia and India’s first Michelin star chef Manjunath Mural.
As in years before, the Ubud Food Festival will be concentrating on sustainability with their Think, Talk, Taste series. It’ll delve into the food trends and concerns that interest us like superfoods, sustainable seafood, the current coconut craze and Asia’s street food secrets.
