For too long, Australians have been teased with tantalising tacos from the world’s biggest Mexican food-inspired. They’ve shown up in movies, music, and TV shows. Now, finally, Taco Bell is making its much-anticipated return to Australia.
Taco Bell has opened and subsequently closed stores Down Under twice before, most recently in 2005, with Australia’s only store to open in the Brisbane suburb of Annerly on Saturday.
Taco Bell overlords have reportedly spent the past 12 months conducting secret menu tastings to create an Aussie-friendly menu for the 100-pax store. Alongside its namesake bites, the chain is famed for everything from frozen margaritas to fajitas, burritos and nachos. Basically, all the food groups.
If you’re prepared to out-wait the passionate taco fans expected to camp out overnight in a bid to be the first through the door, you’ll be gifted a commemorative t-shirt. Sixty-two punters will receive the tee, which commemorates the opening of the first Taco Bell store in California in 1962. Another 1000 people will go in the draw to win a year’s supply of Taco Bell.
The opening party kicks off at 9am on Saturday, November 4.
Welcome back, friend.
