Sydney To Santiago: Qantas Is Launching Daily Direct Dreamliner Flights

It’s about to get a whole lot easier to plan a South American getaway, with Qantas announcing daily flights on its 787-9 Dreamliner from Sydney to Santiago.

The new Dreamliner flights are expected to start taking off in June 2020. They’ll replace the airline’s current Boeing 747 service on the route, which only currently flies four times per week.

While the three extra flights per week are good news, it’s the Dreamliner that’s got passengers excited. The aircraft’s next generation seating, turbulence-dampening technology, noise control and extra large windows make it the ultimate plane for long-haul flights.

The Dreamliner carries 236 passengers across three cabins and state of the art seating. It features the latest version of Qantas’ Business Suite, nicknamed “mini First Class”, plus Premium Economy seats. Regular Economy seats have gotten a glow-up too, getting extra storage compartments and more legroom.

The plane assigned to the Sydney to Santiago route is one of six new Dreamliners that will be joining the Qantas fleet in October 2019 to replace the old Boeing 747s.

“Our Dreamliner has been extremely popular with customers, so we’re pleased to give those travelling between Australia and South America the opportunity to experience it,” Qantas International Acting CEO Naren Kumar said.

“Customer feedback on the cabin environment, from the seats to the anti-jetlag measures continues to exceed our expectations. We are also the only airline to offer Premium Economy between Sydney and Santiago, which is very popular on all flights.”

Qantas launched direct flights from Sydney to Santiago in 2012, and this news comes thanks to high demand from Australians and South Americans alike.

Also expected to launch in 2020 is Qantas’ new direct flight from Brisbane to San Francisco and Chicago.
