Instagram rules our lives, these days – really, who even posts on Facebook any more? And a big part of travel is seeking out the most beautiful places and taking photos of them. And a new ranking by Big 7 Travel lists the most Instagrammable (read, most beautiful) cities in the world, placing Sydney at number one.
[related_articles]81054,80328[/related_articles]Sydney certainly has a lot going for it, with its stunning harbour-side location, terrific beaches, and more-often-than-not lovely weather. While it’s recently had a bit of a sheen taken off it with its air quality during bushfire season, under that cloak of smoke you can be sure the city is pretty as ever.
The list was judged using a “comprehensive scoring system that analysed the amount of hashtags per destination, survey results from our audience, and votes cast by [the Big 7] global editorial team.”
Sydney was the only Australian destination to make the 2020 list (soz, Melbourne) but even the top 10 is rounded out with a bunch of singularly stunning locations.

Here’s the full top 10 most Instagrammable places in the world, according to Big 7 Travel:
- Sydney, Australia
- Hong Kong, China
- Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- New York City, United States of America
- Singapore
- Tokyo, Japan
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Bali, Indonesia
- London, England
- Jaipur, India
As you can see, that’s a great bunch of beautiful places, especially when you consider they beat out Game of Thrones-famous Dubrovnik, Croatia (13th) City of Light Paris, France (19th) and even the Ring Road in Iceland, where you can see the Northern Lights (21st).
It’s a bit of a win for Sydney, where you can also check out a So Fresh Festival, drink bottomless prosecco, or drink endless pour-your-own frosé.
