Britain’s First Capsule Hotel Has Opened In London
The very first capsule hotel opened in Osaka, Japan, back in 1979. Since then, they’ve popped up all over the world, from Canada to California, as a cheap and quirky alternative to traditional hotels.
Now, Britain has jumped on the bandwagon, opening its very first capsule hotel.
London’s St Christopher’s Inn is the first hostel the UK to offer the sleep pod experience, and it’s shaking up the Euro backpacking scene. A total of 26 pods have been installed and are now available to guests.
Each pod is kitted out with comfy Japanese-style capsule beds, free Wi-Fi, USB ports for charging your devices, a ventilation system, adjustable mood lighting and curtains for privacy.
Plus, guests are gifted earplugs on arrival, meaning you don’t have to worry about being in close quarters with chronic snorers.
Bookings start at $50 (£28) per night and can be made via the hotel’s website. Then again, if you’re not too keen on the pods, St Christopher’s Inn offers a range of accommodation options, including traditional hotel set-ups.
