5 Reasons Why Stars Like Sophie Monk Are Buying Luxe Homes On The Central Coast
Kassia is the Editor of AWOL, and a straight-up travel…
I grew up on the Cenny Coast, which always gives one a certain prejudice about a place, even when it’s a laidback beachy paradise. Since leaving at the ripe age of 17 however, the Coast has had one hell of a glow up.
So much so that even Sophie Monk is getting in on the action, dropping a cool $2.25 million on a luxe Central Coast property.
Let me just assure you this lush looking home is far different to what I grew up in. Just look at this reading nook of my dreams:
The property extends over 8,000sqm of land, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms in the Matcham hinterland. Noice.
What’s so great about the Central Coast?
Well, quite a lot actually, and it’s only one and a half to two hours drive from Sydney, so it’s an easy weekend getaway. Let me share a few awesome things to do there to prove my point:
#1 Beautiful beaches
You honestly can’t drive for more than five to 10 minutes without hitting another beach, and sorry/ not sorry but they’re way better than Sydney beaches. There are 41 on the Central Coast, which stretch over 87 km of coast, so you have a lot of choice.
#2 Calm waterways
If you prefer your water without waves, there are also heaps of waterways like Brisbane Water and Tuggerah Lakes, as well as heaps of beachside lagoons — like in my old ‘hoods of Copacabana and Avoca. They’re all pretty perfect for a SUP boards or kayaks.
#3 It’s pet-friendly
It’s a super easy place to bring your pets along to, so you don’t need to find a sitter. There are heaps of dog-friendly walking trails and off-leash areas, including beaches. There’s plenty of accommodation that will happily let your doggo stay as well.
#4 Stunning Coastal Walks
The one thing I never appreciated until I returned as a visitor, is how damn beautiful the Central Coast is. You can lap it all up with all the walks in the area, from easy to advanced. Some of my favourites are the Bouddi coastal walk, Patonga to Pearl Beach track and the Maitland Bay track.
#5 A little luxury
If Sophie Monk is coming to stay, you know there’s some luxe to be had. Bells At Killcare is the place locals go for a fancy staycation, there’s a restaurant and spa too. Or how about a panoramic flight to or from Pretty Beach House?
