Who hasn’t wanted to be the very best? The best there ever was, and catch ’em all on a journey around a beautiful country? Now’s your chance to stay at a Pokémon hotel, maybe the most perfect way to start an adventure in Japan.

Apartment Hotel MIMARU recently unveiled their new collaboration with The Pokémon Company, and opened Pokémon-themed rooms in both Tokyo and Kyoto.

The rooms in the Pokémon hotel are decked out with colourful decorations of many fan-favourite characters from the iconic television, movie and video game series. The walls feature Pokémon designs, the bedding and crockery are styled in the instantly recognisable Pokéball motif.

Keen budding Pokémon Masters will also be happy to accept all the exclusive gifts included in their stay, which are not available for purchase anywhere – a drawstring bag, two towels (one exclusive to Tokyo and one to Kyoto) and a Pikachu welcome card.

Perhaps the biggest boon of all is that every one of the Pokémon hotel rooms is inhabited by an enormous Snorlax plush. If that’s not comforting, I don’t know what is.

The incredible Pokémon rooms are available at the MIMARU Apartment Hotels in Tokyo Ueno East and Tokyo Hatchobori, as well as MIMARU Apartment Hotels in Kyoto, at Shinmachi Sanjo, Kyoto Station, and Kawaramachi Gojo (this site opening Feb 6).

The Pokémon hotel rooms are one part of a rapid development of Japan’s cultural icons into travel opportunities leading up to the 2020 Toyko Olympics. Other new attractions hoping to woo Olympics attendees include a Nintendo megastore, a Super Nintendo World theme park featuring a full-size Mario Kart course, and a bubble-tea theme park.

Sounds like now might be the best time to look at those flights to Japan you’ve been considering.
