Poison’s Rainbow in downtown Portland is the brainchild of Isaac Brock, frontman for Pacific Northwest-based indie band Modest Mouse. Speak of the bar has had music fans buzzing for a long time, but after opening its doors in March, punters can finally see what all the hype is about.
Poison’s Rainbow has replaced dive bar, the Red Flag, known for dishing up hearty American eats for more than 10. But the building has certainly been granted a new lease on life, transformed into a chic and minimalist, neon-lit space for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Ranch Pizza, a formerly weekends-only local food cart setup has the food situation covered, with fresh and delicious pizzas sold by the slice or as a whole. The pizzeria has a pre-existing cult following, so it’s pretty much guaranteed to be top-notch.
Cocktails are $13 ($10USD) or less, some of which Brock invented himself.
Poison’s Rainbow is open from 3pm to 2am, Monday to Friday and 11am to 2am, Saturday and Sunday.
