Mary’s First Burger Joint In Melbourne Is Now Open

The best burgers in Aus are from Mary’s, prove me wrong. Sydney‘s delightfully dirty burgs, the crispy fried chicken and the beers simply can’t be beat. And now another city is blessed with the iconic burger, because the chain has just opened a new store in Melbourne.

It’s the first time Mary’s has set up a permanent shop outside Sydney, and you can expect the classic Mary’s experience here. The most beloved meals will be on the menu, alongside the new devilishly delicious vegan options.

The iconic Mary’s Burger is making the journey, and it’s bringing along the famous shroom burger, cheeseburger, fried chicken, cauliflower and the truly inspiring potato mash and gravy.

As you’d expect from Mary’s, the restaurant will be tucked away down a gritty Melb laneway and marked with a red light globe above the door. Inside, the dark and grungy Mary’s vibes centre around a wrought iron chandelier with 24,000 dead rose stems hanging from it.

But the Melbourne restaurant is also the biggest Mary’s venue to date — 140 seats, with 60 of the best seats in the house up on a mezzanine like you’ll find at the Newtown spot. And just like the restaurants in Sydney, the drinks list is wild, with plenty of beers to slam and lots of weird and wonderful wine picks.

“The City of Melbourne and its fine people have given us our fair share of hangovers over the past six years. We figure that it is high time we gave some back,” said Mary’s co-founder Jake Smyth.

The Melbourne restaurant is now open at 167 Franklin Street. The announcement comes just a few weeks after Mary’s opened their fourth venue in the Sydney CBD on Pitt Street. Go off, Mary’s.
