You Can Foster Adorable Dachshunds For The Night At This Michigan Airbnb

In the Bahamas, you can volunteer to “socialise” (read: cuddle) rescue puppies for the day. In Hawaii, you can take shelter dogs hiking. And, now, in the US state of Michigan, you can foster a couple of friendly dachshunds for the night.

At the excellently named Hotdog Hideaway at Long Dog Retreat, run by husband-and-wife team Joe and Kelly Landgraf, dog lovers can share their accommodation with the foster doggos for an extra $6.50 ($5USD) per night.

Or, if you’re prepared to wash, walk and groom the four-legged guests, they’ll waive the fee.

While the quiet cabins have been available to rent for the best part of two decades, the foster dogs are a new addition. Way to make an upgrade, you guys.

Currently, the cabins at Long Dog Retreat are open over the North American summer, from May to October, but will open year-round in the near future. Bookings start at $132 per night.

You never know – you might leave with a new best friend. Or, if you’d prefer to BYO, the retreat is pet-friendly.
