Le Tour De France Is Coming To Australia (Kind Of)
Attention, bicycle nuts: the company behind the world famous Le Tour De France is bringing a new race to Australia. And we’re all invited to take part.
Titled L’Étape Australia, the cycling event brings the Tour de France experience down under, for a spectacular 160km ride through the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. This is guaranteed to be one of the most dazzling adrenaline rushes any amateur cyclist could hope for.
It all takes place this December 2, with the entire course running through fully closed roads throughout the stunning Snowy Mountains backdrop.
It’s open to cyclists at all levels, though competition may be pretty strong: legendary three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome will be participating, while the “voice of cycling”, commentator Phil Liggett, will be in tow to commentate the race.
Interested? Sign up now, as you’ll receive helpful training tips from Australian cycling commentator Matt Keenan. There’s also a “countdown” info package available, with handy hints about everything from getting to the track to picking bibs.
More information can be found here. This is set to be a really special event for cycling fanatics, given it’s essentially the closest thing any amateur could ever get to the real Tour de France.
