This weekend, we’ll farewell daylight saving for another winter, so we suggest you make the most of the long days while they last. And what better way than to farewell summer than by taking in an iconic opera on Sydney Harbour?

Taking place at Mrs Macquarie’s Point, La Bohème is a classic boy-meets-girl love story set in the 1960s (hence its dreamy bohemian aesthetic). If you loved Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge!, it’s right up your alley – the whacky 2001 film was inspired by La Bohème.

And it has all the trappings of a Handa Opera, including clowns delivered to the stage by crane, fake snow (yes, it falls on the audience), and even cute dogs. In fact, the company has auditioned dogs from all over Sydney to make a very special appearance in the opera’s opening scene.

The whole thing is performed in Italian (with English subtitles), so you can really get into that Euro summer groove.

Fortunately for you, tickets are still available, so you could be taking it all in as early as tonight. Tickets for Sunday to Thursday shows start at $99, while shows on Fridays and Saturdays start at $118.
