This NSW Wine Region Is Hiding One Of The Country’s Most Wholesome Christmas Experiences

While it’s hard to beat celebrating the festive season on the golden sands of the east coast’s beaches, there is one Christmas experience well worth making the time for: The Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular.

Located just over two hours’ drive from the Sydney CBD, in Pokolbin, the sprawling Hunter Valley Gardens boasts beautiful natural displays year-round, but it’s at Christmas that they really kick things up a notch: come November, five acres are lit up by millions of twinkling Christmas lights.

There’s 16 individual light displays in total, including an Around the World exhibit that includes landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Eiffel Tower, a giant teddy called Hunter, and a couple of unicorns, for good measure. Those who want to get up-close-and-personal with the displays can ride the Ferris Wheel or unleash their inner kid on the Super Slide.

And the best thing is that Christmas fiends can celebrate into the new year, because the display runs through November 26, with food trucks on-site and a special event on New Year’s Eve.

Entry to the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular costs $30 for adults or $25 for kids aged four to 15 years. Children under three enter for free.
