The Best Destination In The World Has Been Named
While it may not be the happiest place in the world, London has just been named the best city in the world for travellers, according to TripAdvisor.
In the online travel bible’s annual Traveller’s Choice Survey, the UK capital has beat out the likes of Rome, New York and Paris to claim the top spot. London was praised for not only its major sights like the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace but also the fact that it’s become quite the hip destination for foodies and art lovers alike.
Alongside the usual crop of mega cities, Turkey’s Istanbul and Morocco’s Marrakech proved that vibrant cultural scenes and strong historical pasts are still huge draw cards for travellers. For Asian destinations, Siem Reap in Cambodia and Hanoi in Vietnam proved mightily popular as these two fast-growing cities are both relatively cheap, easy to traverse and filled to the brim with great food, culture and so much more.
A somewhat interesting addition to this year’s top ten is Ubud, Indonesia, who scraped into the top ten this year. Hailed as Bali’s cultural and artistic capital, the beautiful mountainous village of Ubud is also home to some of the island’s most indulgent culinary gems.
