Sydney’s Scoring An Un-Brie-Lievably Big Cheese And Wine Festival

good food and wine show sydney cheese festival

The long weekend may be over, but at least we have cheese. And Sydney’s about to have a whole lot of cheese grace its streets, when the Good Food and Wine Show lands on June 21.

Everyone knows that “Good Food” directly translates to “cheese”, and there’ll be more than 80 kinds of the good stuff at this homage to fromage.

Most of those will be found in Cheese Alley – wander through this cheesy reimagination of the humble laneway to sample buffalo mozzarella, cheddar, camembert, goat’s cheese and creamy brie, among plenty of others.

Don’t let the name put you off attending a masterclass at the Smelly Cheese Project. They’ll be running “cheese appreciation” journeys – everything from the world’s best cheeses, the smelliest cheese and the best melting cheeses, plus some special sessions pairing cheese with French wine, cider and spirits.

If those drinks aren’t for you, you can also book into a masterclass aboard the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer, a vintage bus converted into a premium whiskey lounge. Learn to pair the two, or attend a Glenfiddich tasting session with four of their best ages malts.

This festival might be dedicated to cheese and wine, but no one can deny the other food groups a spot on the program. There’ll be wine tastings, champagne selections and kimchi masterclasses as well. We don’t mean to bury the lede, but there’ll be 800-plus kinds of wine at this thing.

There’ll even be celebrity chefs like Maggie Beer, Matt Moran and George Calombaris flexing their culinary prowess on stage for you to see for free.

The Good Food and Wine Show runs from June 21 to 23 at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. You can buy general admission and VIP tickets now, and check out the website to book into any and all masterclasses that catch your eye.
